1. WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU DRINK IN THE MORNING?

On the days I get my fitness on, it’s water so that I can hydrate for my workout!  Otherwise, it’s an americano with a splash of cream.  Workouts or an americano get me geared up to conquer my day!

2. WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE JEWELRY PIECE TO DESIGN OUTOF ALL THE ONES YOU HAVE DONE? WHY?

Maharlika ‘Tulis’ Earrings

3. WHAT SONG WOULD BE THE ANTHEM OF YOUR DESIGN PROCESS?

Yiruma - River Flows in You

4. WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHERS ENTERING YOUR PROFESSION?

Expect many high’s and low’s.  It’s never easy and it’s a grind.  Half of the job is the creative side, but the other half is managing your business, production, marketing, and development.  You will need to embrace the business aspects in addition to being creative in your designs.  You will come across many people on your journey who will be negative and discourage you from your goals. Receiving criticism is part of the job, but realizing early on that not everyone is going to love your product or your designs will benefit you tremendously.  Don’t take things personally, shake it off and move on. Believe in your designs and follow your passion. Every phase of this entire process is a learning experience and some very crucial knowledge is gained with the many mistakes made. Embrace all of them. Many days you will feel like quitting, but once you get past the challenges something positive will always come from all the hard work.   Always remember, you can’t have success without failure. Take each failure as a learning lesson and part of your journey to find success.

5. AS A DESIGNER, WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?

Growing up in a bi-cultural household, my father coming from Iran and my mother coming from the Philippines, heavily influences my designs and me as person. I’m a visual person so inspiration can come from the smallest details on a piece of artwork or building. Anything around me can inspire me to create something.

6. IF YOU COULD MEET ANYONE IN THE WORLD, WHO DO YOU WANT TO MEET? AND WHY?

My Filipino grandmother from my mom’s side of the family.  She died before I was born, but ever since I was a little girl I have always admired my mother’s personal style and grace.  A lot of my style, taste for fashion, and my creative side really comes from her.  I think my mother developed a lot of that from her mother, a woman I would have loved to meet and get to know.

7. WHAT KIND OF PERSON WEARS YOUR JEWELRY?

I created the line to ultimately appeal to women of virtually every style. I wanted to design jewelry pieces that are easy to wear yet stylish enough for fashion trendsetters. When designing I always create pieces that I can see myself wearing or my friends wearing everyday.
